Defence BattleLab Co-creation Space

The Defence BattleLab is a hub for collaboration. Its strategic location within Dorset Innovation Park allows for a unique combination of capabilities that are unrivalled anywhere else in the UK. It benefits from access to cleared land, air, and sea space for experimentation, as well as the innovation capabilities of D3IP.

The Defence BattleLab forms part of the government National Strategic Technology and Innovation Exchange (NSTIx) programme as the defence innovation Co-Creation Space.

TRAVELLING BY CAR: Dorset Innovation Park is accessed via the Burton Cross Roundabout (A352). Once past the gatehouse, take the third exit at the roundabout and the carpark is on the left in front of the Defence BattleLab. The park is not accessible via Gatemore Road.

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN: A regular rail service operates between Wool Train Station and London Waterloo. Wool Train Station is a five-minute drive/ 10-minute cycle/ 40-minute walk from Dorset Innovation Park. Local pre-booked taxi services are available from the station, as well as the local Beryl bike hire scheme.

Will I Need ID To Access The Defence BattleLab?

Access to Dorset Innovation Park is managed by a third-party organisation that requires photographic ID to permit entrance.

Accepted forms of ID are:

  • Police ID
  • CSCS card

Depending on the nature of your visit, you may be required to sign in upon arrival at the BattleLab. You will be required to sign in & be given a pass for all D3IP events. Please return this pass before leaving.

Is Parking Available?

Free parking is available at Dorset Innovation Park, along with a small number of EV charging points.

What Catering Options Are Available?

There is a daily sandwich van that services the Defence BattleLab at 11:30am each weekday. Lunches can be ordered and collected from the Hidden Deli’s unit within the park on selected days. Visit the Hidden Deli website for more information.

There are fridges and microwaves available for use, as well as drinks-making facilities.

Is Overnight Accommodation Available?

There are a number of hotels and B&Bs within 30 minutes of Dorset Innovation Park. We recommend the following local options:

The Countryman Inn, East Knighton:
