D3IP Facilitates NavyX Autonomy Collaboration

D3IP has successfully facilitated an innovation partnership between the Royal Navy’s autonomy and lethality accelerator and two SMEs to speed up the exploration of autonomous capabilities at sea.

As part of the NavyX mission to achieve Degree 4 Autonomy, D3IP facilitated a more agile process that identified suitable industry partners in a much shorter timeframe than would normally be the case.

D3IP provides innovation as a service by leveraging a diverse collaboration community and access to a wide range of capabilities. We work with Defence, Law Enforcement, National Security, and other public sector organisations to improve outcomes, while also creating opportunities for partners who struggle to access public sector frameworks, including SMEs, academia, subject matter experts, and regulatory bodies.

D3IP carried out discovery work in collaboration with their community to break down the D4 Autonomy challenge and establish the most effective way to proceed. A resulting down-select process then identified two partners – Hadean, a technology company specialising in AI, spatial computing and real-time globally distributed data, and Metaverse VR – who were best placed to collaborate with NavyX and take the challenge forward.

As a result of utilising D3IP’s services, NaxyX was able to plan and advance their innovation work in a much more effective way.

Mike Jenner, NavyX, commented: “D3IP have delivered quality over quantity. There is no way we would’ve got a collaboration like this otherwise. I am getting excited about what could be achieved.”

About Hadean

Hadean are a technology company specialising in AI, spatial computing and real-time globally distributed data.

Paul Pine, Metaverse VR CTO said “We’re delighted to have been selected by D3IP for this project with NavyX. D3IP’s focus on collaboration, agile process and innovative solutions to meet the NavyX challenges speaks to our core business capabilities and how we like to work.

“We are really excited to collaborate with NavyX and Hadean in support of the Royal Navy’s ambitions for Degree 4 Autonomy and to bring our simulation and innovative immersive training expertise in to support the testing and trials on next-gen operational platforms.”

Chris Arthurs, VP Innovation at Hadean, commented, “Hadean is delighted to have been involved in the collaboration with D3IP and the work to find suitable partners for NavyX. The process was very smooth, and we are looking forward to bringing best in class AI and spatial computing to the Royal Navy as it embarks on the training and experimentation for its autonomous fleet.”

A D3IP spokesperson added: “By facilitating greater collaboration with a more diverse supply chain, D3IP is enabling Defence to innovate in a more agile way. That results in better outcomes, whether that is expanding our knowledge and understanding to deliver more informed decision making in the future, or achieving quicker and de-risked innovation pipelines.”

“D3IP is continually expanding and diversifying its collaboration community to support public sector organisations with their challenges, deliver new opportunities for non-traditional supply chain partners, and facilitate greater exchange of knowledge of expertise to enable better outcomes.”
